THE Mt TAMBORINE CRICKET TRANSPLANT BASH ON THE MOUNTAIN
On the 5th and 6th of April 2025, Tamborine Mountain are hosting the 10th Anniversary Game for the one of the best cricketers the mountain has known, Chris Wills. Chris passed away in 2009 whilst playing cricket and in the next few years the TMSA sports ground was finished and the idea of creating a charity cricket match was developed. Chris was not only a great cricketer but also a fantastic junior coach for locals on the mountain and it was fitting that the main oval was named in his honour. Chris was a successful small business owner on the mountain, myself like many others had the pleasure of playing cricket and also socialising with Chris and his wife Anita, I am still in touch with Anita on a regular basis.
Cricketers have come together, when possible, for the last 10 years with other teams which have come from all parts of the East Coast of Australia. The weekend has become even more significant to locals on the mountain since the passing of Leah Barker. Leah as a donor saved / helped 5 families directly and numerous others. Leah was driven in making people aware of the importance of Organ Donation. It is the 5th Anniversary game of Leahs passing, we now have 8 teams playing on both grounds over the 2 days.
Bushrats, Queensland Cricket Club QCC, Think Cricket Play Cricket TCPC, Ratters, Sparkle Superstars, Gabba Greats, Lucky Stars and the Kookaburra Ladies All Stars.
We come together to remember and celebrate in a fun enjoyable altered format of cricket, the teams play for the Chris Wills Trophy and the Leah Barker Memorial shield, we have items on display and raffles for different items
We also have the Tamborine Fire and Rescue Squad come down with demonstrations and a guest appearance from Blazer Bear, It is a fun day, So if you are thinking of something to do come on down and enjoy a beautiful day on the mountain,
