PEOPLE have a strong reaction when they come to my house and meet my five geese – generally it’s one of terror.
But my geese are my babies, and I adore them.
I had to wait quite some time and search hard to find them.
Both Toulouse and Sebastopol geese are rare breeds, but I chose them for their majesty, and to see them wander in a gaggle around the property brings me immense joy.
They are curious and at times naughty like little children and of course great protectors.
When the dog barks to alert us to a visitor the geese will join in honking wildly.
Of my original pair I only have Patrice left, sadly Penelope died from a tick, which left him distraught and lonely while I again searched for another.
To my husband’s horror I didn’t come home with just one, but five. Unfortunately, one of those also succumbed to a tick.
