Africa and cruising

Elephant Sundowner

Whenever someone pops into the office to discuss Africa, I always give a warning, this destination is addictive; once you have the Africa bug you will feel compelled to return.

My early childhood was in Nigeria, so I have always been intrigued by this diverse continent.

I have travelled there several times and hopefully will be tempted again in the future.

Bench Africa is a long-established company that we have dealt with for years. They are complete specialists – they do not offer trips to anywhere other than Africa, they own infrastructure there and they have long standing relationships with all the most wonderful people on the ground.

So, if you are considering a trip do come and meet Graham and hear all about the options Bench offer.

Just yesterday I was sitting in the office and some visitors to the mountain wandered in asking for me.

Apparently, we had met boarding a light aircraft in the Okavango Delta, Botswana some ten years ago! They even had a photo to prove it … We had stayed in a wonderful lodge together, taking safari trips at dawn and dusk to see lion, leopard, elephant, warthog, hippopotamus, giraffe and all the other animals that are active at these times.

Hearing the call of the wild as you drift off to sleep; meeting locals and fellow like-minded travellers is wonderful. A fabulous combination of a relaxing holiday yet busy and learning at the same time.

Whether your interests lie in exploring Southern Africa, witnessing the great migration in East Africa, discovering ancient Egypt or calmly observing gorillas in the wild, Bench will have a trip personally designed for you.

Why not pair a fascinating African safari with a cruise?

One of the latest destinations for more adventurous cruise travellers is this vast continent.

Regent Seven Seas is a luxury cruise line that offers wonderful cruises worldwide and several trips in African waters.

Sail down the west coast of Africa from Lisbon to Cape Town discovering the exotic ports of Morocco and the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Sao Tome …. All fascinating with a wealth of experiences. Or sail from Cape Town via Mozambique and Madagascar, visit the beautiful Seychelles and the Arabian Peninsula on your way to Dubai.

Another option is a round-trip cruise from Cape Town visiting Mozambique and Namibia as well as several ports in South Africa.

In my opinion Regent Seven Seas is one of the world’s very best cruise lines.

The ships are beautiful; they are spacious and welcoming. Everything is included – all meals whether in your choice of the several restaurants onboard or room service; all beverages including specialty coffees, cocktails and your favourite tipple; pre-paid gratuities and unlimited in-depth shore excursions. Even your laundry is taken care of.

You literally end your trip with no more to pay and a suitcase of freshly laundered clothes.

You will feel welcome from the moment you board, the crew are wonderful, and you are bound to meet like minded travellers.

Regent offer cruises worldwide with hundreds or ports of call and several overnight stops so you can immerse yourself in the destination.

Choose from close to home in Australian and New Zealand, exotic Asia including Japan, the Pacific islands, Alaska and North America, Antarctica and South America, colourful Caribbean, Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.

Join us to find more. Our next event with Graham from Bench and Elsa from Regent will be held on Wednesday July 17 at 5pm.  RSVP to Travelling Places. P: 07 5545 1600 or E: travel@travellingplaces.com.au
