Ancient Traditions

Core Strength vs Activation
Core Strength vs Activation

Yoga teachings are based on ancient traditions, following the rhythms of the earth.

I use these ancient principles on my Yoga Retreat, one coming up soon in Springbrook (March 21 to 23).

The real power of these teachings is that they make us feel safe and very connected to our ancestral roots and when you feel safe you can transform, which is what my yoga retreats are all about.

All healing traditions emphasise movement.

When you learn to stretch and soften those big bands of tension and armour in your body, you have an opportunity to live life without pain.

Breath. Learning to breathe with deep, slow breaths means you can relax.

Food. Ancient traditions eat real nourishing food, cooked with care. Our Ayurvedic meals are packed with protein, spices, vegetables, salads and dessert. Regular cooked, nourishing meals high in protein soothe and reassure your nervous system.  Why? My body believes I am living in a time of plenty (protein packed, regular meals), I’ve discovered fire, so my cooked meals are easier to digest. Hence, I feel safe enough to contemplate change.

Light. We wake with the sun and as we expose our eyes, body and face to morning sunlight, this increases serotonin which is a precursor to melatonin which regulates my sleep/ wake cycle. Earthing. Spending time in the rainforest means I can absorb electrons from the Earth to counteract the free radicals from this EMF saturated world.

And finally, we laugh and connect with others. Hugely healing.
