AUSTRALIAN Paralympic archer Melissa-Anne Tanner, who will speak at Canungra’s International Women’s Day next month, is an inspiration.
Her motto, that ‘anything is possible’ still motivates her to be the best she can, as a mother, wife, friend, at work, in life and as an athlete.
A double amputee, Melissa-Anne took up the sport of Para Archery after watching it at the Tokyo Paralympics.
She is now rated number one in Australia in W1 para–Open Women class and Oceania titles.
This has seen her selected to represent Archery Australia’s Para team for World titles in July 2023 and Paris 24 Paralympics. She has committed to train and seek selection for the Los Angeles Paralympics 2028.
Melissa-Anne, like a lot of women, is balancing work, being a wife, mother of children with her own dreams and aspirations.
“My ‘Why’ is that I believe that ‘anything is possible’ if we are the best at all the things we do, say, and behave in a way that creates a positive change in the lives of others whoever they are, our children, partner, friends, work colleagues, clients and the community we all live in,” she says
The Canungra Chamber of Commerce’s International Women’s Day Breakfast is on March 11 at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards.
Tickets are $45 (Chamber members) and $50 (non-members), available from ticketebo.com.au/iwdbcan2025.
