Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz MP, is encouraging local community organisations to apply for funding under the 2025–26 Volunteer Grants Program, with expressions of interest now open.
Mr Buchholz said the program recognises the vital role volunteers play in supporting communities across the electorate.
“From sporting clubs and emergency services to charities and community groups, volunteers are the backbone of our community,” Mr Buchholz said.
“This funding helps local organisations better support their volunteers and strengthen the services they provide to our community.”
Eligible organisations can apply for grants between $1,000 and $5,000, with all funding required to directly benefit volunteers.
Organisations may apply for funding to purchase key communication and operational equipment, including:
- Mobile phones and phone bills
- Computers, laptops and tablets
- Software packages
- Insurance premiums
- Electronic audio and visual equipment
- Electronic payment devices
“These practical items make a real difference to how volunteers communicate, coordinate, and deliver services,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Whether it’s upgrading computers, covering insurance costs, or improving internet access, this program is about giving volunteers the tools they need to succeed.”
Organisations may also apply under Category 2 to support activities and equipment that assist eligible volunteer groups and cohorts, in line with program guidelines.
This includes adults whose volunteering supports children’s development and wellbeing, children under 18, First Nations people, newly arrived non-citizen migrants, people with disability, unemployed people volunteering to improve their employment prospects, veterans and Australian Defence Force members, and women experiencing or at risk of gender-based violence or isolation.
Applications close at 5:00pm on Friday, 27 March 2026.
Mr Buchholz encouraged all eligible organisations in Wright to apply.
“If your organisation relies on volunteers, I strongly encourage you to put in an application,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity to secure funding that will directly benefit the people who give their time and energy to help others.”
