Celebrating over a decade since its incorporation, the Beechmont Cricket Club continues to thrive under the leadership of Chris (Eddie) Edmond, who took over as president in 2019. The club has witnessed significant infrastructural enhancements that not only benefit its members but also serve the broader community, including the Beechmont State School.
Under Eddie’s stewardship, the club has seen the completion of several major projects, each adding invaluable assets to Graceleigh Park. The installation of new cricket nets and a secure storage compound has bolstered the club’s facilities, providing top-notch amenities for both practice and competitive play. Moreover, the construction of a grandstand coupled with the installation of shade sails has transformed the park into a comfortable and inviting venue for spectators and community gatherings.
These improvements have significantly enhanced the club’s offerings, making it a cornerstone for community sports and activities. The benefits extend beyond the club, with Beechmont State School regularly using the facilities, thereby reinforcing the club’s role as a community hub.
The club’s recent achievements were celebrated during a special event where life memberships were awarded to Greg Slater and Brian Pitman, recognising their ten years of outstanding volunteer service. Both members have been pivotal in the club’s journey, with Greg instrumental in earlier projects like the installation of the bore and irrigation system, light towers and a clubhouse upgrade. Their dedication was commemorated with custom camphor laurel cutting boards, etched with the club’s logo, a testament to their enduring impact on the club.
