The glorious weather has brought out the bowlers and some wonderful games have been played at Canungra Bowls Club over the past month.
Sunday March 29: We welcomed Robina Rebels to the club. It has been approximately five years since the Rebels have been to Canungra and a day of bowls, Chicken and Prawn lunch and sunshine was enjoyed by all, which means this will now become an annual event. Highest scoring teams were awarded stubby holders to celebrate their win.
Saturday April 5: Our Easter Bonanza took place generously sponsored by Blue Gum Flats (Wayne and Val Reiser) with support from their extended family. Great fun was had by all members and visitors. A friendly game of bowls and a fabulous lunch was enjoyed by 12 teams. Winners of the day. Stuart Warren, Karin Zieke and Peter Shoebridge on 2+18. Runners up Greg Brown, Geoff Roberts and Jason Voight on 2+10.
Thursday April 16: Six of our Ladies joined Beaudesert and several other clubs for the Autumn Triples, which is part of Beaudesert Bush Carnival. All our ladies had a great day. Well done to Wendy Coleman, Merle Wortel. Donna Rixon, Karin Zieke, Ann Norris, Jodie-Ann Boulden for representing our club.
Sunday April 19: We welcomed Pottsville Pirates back to Canungra for their annual Social Bowls day. The Pirates joined us for a fun day of bowls, beer, great food and friendship. We look forward to returning to Pottsville later this year.
Paddle Pops Pairs is played each Wednesday 9am for 9.30am start. Open to anyone who are interested in learning to play or bowlers preferring a social game during the week. Winners of our weekly Paddle Pop Pairs social games during April were, Doug Timms on 4+35, Jon Freeman on 4+30, Dave Coleman on 4+34, Rod Griffith on 4+28. Congratulations to all winners who each took home a gift voucher generously donated by our sponsor, Canungra Hotel.
