Bucking bulls and country tunes helped make this year’s Canungra Rodeo one to remember.
Held on July 12, the 2025 Canungra Rodeo was sold out weeks in advance and drew crowds from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and beyond.
Canungra Show Society Vice President Steve Noy said ticket demand has surged year after year.
“It builds every year. When we open up tickets, there’s usually a queue and sometimes people wait up to three hours,” he said.
“It’s almost like a concert. People know the tickets will sell out, and they don’t want to miss it.”
The rodeo arena, nestled in the hills, created a vibrant and immersive environment for both spectators and competitors.
With support from Honky Tonk Promotions, the National Rodeo Association, and a host of local volunteers and sponsors, the event went off without a hitch – except maybe for selling out of alcohol three times – but the Canungra Hotel ensured it was quickly restocked.
Among those thanked for making the event possible were Canungra Hotel’s Simon Walsh, who helped keep the drinks flowing, and local groups including the Biddaddaba Rural Fire Brigade, Scenic Rim Toastmasters, and C&K Canungra Community Kindy.
“The committee is already looking at what worked and what we can do better next year,” Mr Noy said.
