June Is Eat Local Month in the Scenic Rim
Just a reminder that Scenic Rim’s Eat Local Month is on during June, with the growers, farmers, makers, chefs and flavour masters of the Scenic Rim once again throwing open their gates, kitchens and paddocks.
I’m particularly looking forward to enjoying the O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards Longest Lunch on June 7.
I would also recommend a trip to Kalbar for the Winter Harvest Food and Wine Festival on June 27, for those who haven’t been before.

Cuppa In The Communi-tea
I was great to drop in to the Cuppa in the Communi-tea held by Council in D J Smith Park on May 19.
There was a good turn out despite the inclement weather and I would like to acknowledge Council’s team for hosting the morning, St Luke’s Anglican Church for providing a free morning tea and the Wonglepong QCWA for having a stall with all manner of useful wares for sale!
Beechmont Dinner In The Dark
What a great turn out at the Dinner in the Dark event held at the Old School on Beechmont on May 21.
Approximately 50 people turned up on a cold and drizzly evening to learn a little about how to prepare easy and delicious meals when the power goes out.
As well as picking up some handy cooking tips, it was a great chance to meet new people and create those connections within the community that are so important during natural disasters!
2026/27 Council Budget
Council are currently working on the 2026/27 budget.
Just as balancing the family budget is challenging during the current cost of living crisis, balancing Council’s budget is also proving difficult due to significant increases in the cost of materials and services.
I have been advocating hard to find savings within the organisation before cost increases are passed on to the ratepayer, and will continue to do so until the budget is finalised.
