May is Small Business Month

Canungra Law

Small business owners will have a range of opportunities to engage with a variety specialists and learn new skills during the Scenic Rim Small Business Month in May. Small businesses are the backbone of the Scenic Rim and these events are a great opportunity to not only learn new skills, but to network and build connections within our local business community.

For more information on Scenic Rim’s Small Business Month calendar of events visit Council’s website, www.scenicrim.qld.gov.au

Eat Local Month

Eat Local Month is rapidly approaching and tickets to numerous offerings across the region during the month of June are now on sale. There will be 100+ events across five weekends in June and tickets will sell out fast.

Each weekend highlights different towns and villages across the Scenic Rim, offering you the chance to explore local farms, wineries, breweries, and more.

Canungra Show Society Seeking Volunteers

The Canungra Rodeo and Show will be held over the next few months.

The Show Society are seeking expressions of interest from both individuals and community groups, to volunteer and assist in running both these major events in our community. This is a great fundraising opportunity for community groups who help out.

For further information, please contact Sharon Rafferty on 0407435964.

ANZAC Day

It was a privilege to attend ANZAC Day ceremonies at Canungra and Beechmont and honour all who have served our country, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Well done to the Canungra RSL sub-branch and Beechmont ANZAC Committee who always conduct meaningful ceremonies and the opportunity for our communities to gather and show respect for our service personnel and also spend time together as a community celebrating the freedom we enjoy as a result of the sacrifices of others.

Hands Across the Land Fundraising Dinner

A very enjoyable evening was had by all at the Hands Across the Land fundraising dinner that was held at the O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards.

Organised by Kay Tommerup of Tommerup’s Dairy Farm, the dinner was a sell out and raised approximately $30,000.

Funds will go to the charity Farm Angels and provide assistance to farmers and graziers after the recent devastating floods in central and western Queensland.

Thank you to all who attended and donated so generously to this worthy cause!
