The festive season is well and truly upon us with many groups and organisations hosting end of year celebrations and Christmas parties!
Congratulations to all of the students who have completed another year of schooling, especially the Year 12 students who are entering the next phase of life and transitioning into work, or further study as the case may be.
I spent a few enjoyable hours at The Long Sunset, which was held at Elysian Fields at the start of the November. It recorded the highest attendance in the history of the event, and saw thousands of visitors to the region.
I had the honour of attending the Remembrance Day service in Canungra and laid a wreath on behalf of Council. I would also like to thank the students of Beechmont State School who laid a wreath on my behalf at that ceremony.
It was a pleasure to attend the inaugural Melbourne Cup Luch at the O’Reily’s Vineyard and hosted by the Canungra Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber also held their AGM at Café Metz and was a very enjoyable evening. Thank you to the outgoing executive who have done an outstanding job of growing the membership and conducting numerous successful events throughout the year. Congratulations to the newly elected Chamber executive who I am sure will continue to provide important leadership to this proactive group. I am very much looking forward to the Chamber’s last major event of the year, the Canungra Christmas Markets!
I would like to wish the Canungra Show Society all the very best in hosting the National Finals Rodeo. By the time you read this the rodeo will have already been held. I trust that the weather was kind and all who attended had a great time!
Congratulations to the Pennisi family on the opening of The Village Inn in the centre of Canungra. The Inn provides a high quality and much needed accommodation offering in town, and I’m sure all who stay will enjoy the experience.
The festive season is also a timely reminder to make sure you have signed up to Council’s Disaster Dashboard. Safety is always a priority. This holiday season, please stay safe on our roads – and if it’s flooded, forget it!
Thank you for your support this year. I wish everyone a merry Christmas, and a happy and prosperous New Year!
