NEW residents to the Canungra region, Sharon McKeown and her partner Scott Carter, may have just moved into their new home on Finch Road, but that hasn’t stopped them from digging in to plan a major charity event for the area.
They are inviting locals to join them at cocktail dinner function for 200 people at O’Reilly’s Vineyard on Saturday, February 22 in a bid to raise funds for the Mark Hughes Brain Cancer Foundation and the children’s charity group, Variety.
Both have had long personal associations with the charity groups.
Sharon lost her husband, Sholto, to brain cancer five years ago, while Scott has been raising funds for Variety for more than a decade.
“We have named our Canungra charity event ’Night 2 Unite’ because it aims to raise funds for two separate charities,” Sharon said.
“The night will start with canapés and drinks on the verandah at O’Reilly’s at 5.30pm followed by a superb two course dinner.
“Included in the $180 per person ticket is a four hour drinks package and entertainment.”
Both Sharon and Scott have also committed to other fundraising events with their two selected charities with Sharon joining 19 other women for an 8-day trek through the mountains in New Zealand to raise funds for the MHF, while Scott has committed them to participating in Variety’s Red Centre fundraiser in May.
Sharon is well known as the proud mum to Olympians Taylor and Kaylee.
There will be a silent and live auctions on the night and any business that would like to donate please contact either Sharon or Scott on the numbers supplied.
