Natural disaster repairs
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and our delivery partners have been all hands on deck in the emergency response phase post-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Works are well underway at multiple sites along Lamington National Park Road following Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred in early March 2025. TMR has appointed Durack Civil (Durack) to complete these emergency works.
Durack is completing a range of emergency works activities across 40 sites including clearing debris and fallen trees, tree removal, scaling and slope stabilisation. A large number of these sites have been completed, including removing damaged large trees from the road close to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat. Emergency works with stop/slow traffic conditions are expected to continue for about a further two months.
Once make safe works are complete, TMR will then move into the design phase of natural disaster repairs.
Holiday pause
Hazell Bros restoration works will pause from 12pm on Thursday 17 April 2025 and recommence works on Monday 28 April 2025 with intermittent stop/slow conditions in place. Hazell Bros will be completing drainage repairs, pipe replacements, and installing a rockfall fence. Up to 10-minute holds will be required to complete these works safely, due to the limited road width available. Works are expected to be complete late May 2025, weather and site conditions permitting.
2022 Rainfall Events Reconstruction works
Since January 2025, Georgiou has completed revegetation works and repairs to roads that have been eroded. The team is currently replacing concrete drainage pipes and completing permanent pavement rectifications. These works will be completed by late April 2025, weather and site conditions permitting.
2023 Christmas storms reconstruction works
The design for this program of works is nearing finalisation, and the Tamborine Mountain community can expect impacts and construction activity in numerous locations from mid-2025.
Safety Reminder
Although the community is familiar with roadworks, it’s a vital time to remind all road users to follow traffic control directions. We appreciate your patience at traffic control points for the safety of yourself, workers and other road users.
