DESIGNING the interior of a home and its gardens takes on even greater focus and importance when you are investing multi-millions into the house you are building.

If you want to put an exclamation mark on the project you have dreamed about you must bring in the experts to make sure the finishing touches are perfect.

The owners of the recently completed Mountain View House at Maudsland didn’t have far to look when they went searching for a great designer they found him living just up the road on Tamborine Mountain.

Landscape and interior design expert, Jez Clark, has been a resident on the mountain now for almost a decade after moving here from Cairns.

The Maudsland project took almost three years to complete and the quality of the landscape and interior designs by Jez were of such a high standard they were recently recognised with two gold medals at the Landscape Design Institute’s Australian awards.

The finished design work on the home won gold in two categories – Residential Design Mid/Large Garden and Rural/Regional Landscape.

Jez was then named as the overall winner of the Landscape Designer of the Year – Residential Design.

It was bitter sweet for Jez to walk up to accept his awards as his late husband Mark Granger had played a major part in the project before his death just a few years ago.

“Mountain View was the last project I worked on with Mark before he sadly passed away during construction leaving me to carry on with the vision he and I put together,” Jez said.

“It was great professionally to be recognised by my peers at the recent awards and the organisers commented I should feel honoured because they had received hundreds of entries from all over Australia,” he said.

“It was a wonderful moment for me to win the award, I know Mark would have been very proud of what we achieved.”

Jez said making a home in Tamborine almost a decade ago had been a dream move.

“The people here are wonderful and you seem to know everyone even the shop owners.”

The national awards are sure to have Jez’s Clark and Granger office phone running hot with job opportunities, but for now he’s happy to keep his work on a small personal basis.
