You may have seen the distinctive blue and aqua T-shirts of Lions members in the aftermath of Cyclone Alfred. Cooking breakfasts for the Chainsaw Warriors, moving debris for vulnerable people, helping staff the Recovery Centre and much more.
The Club currently has around 40 members and loves embracing new people into the Lions family. Membership of a service club may be a new concept for you. But if you have spare time, or are a new resident to the Mountain, if you’d like to expand your social circle and, above all, you want to ‘make a difference’, then the Club’s for you.
The Club has varied activities: the unique Breast Cushion project, Mountain Mates (a social activity for young adults with disabilities), upcycling and recycling initiatives, fundraising activities like raffles and our monthly Steak Wagon at the markets, and delivery of library books to housebound people. We even do a little beautification around the Mountain, like the ‘Welcome’ signs on the main roads.
Our next social Dinner Meeting is on Tuesday, 27th May, at 6.30 pm for 7.00 pm start, at St Bernards Hotel. You’ll enjoy an interesting guest speaker, and make new friends.
Call Membership Officer and 1st Vice-president Barbara Hams on 0411 758 514 for further information, to register for a dinner meeting, or to meet-up for a coffee and chat. No obligation!
