For Scenic Rim locals Rick and his wife Liz, the right kind of care has made all the difference.
A few months ago, the couple made the move to Nurse Next Door, hoping to find what their previous arrangement had been missing: familiar faces at the door, and the comfort of knowing a qualified nurse was never far away.
“Having a care provider that has nursing as well is very handy,” Rick says.
“Having the same person come around is important. That’s what we weren’t getting before.”
Now, twice a week, the same small team arrives to share in the rhythms of their morning.
There is a cooked breakfast, the bed is freshened, the home tidied, and conversation, plenty of it, the kind that makes the morning feel a little brighter.
For Rick, the change has been a quiet relief.
“It’s been consistently good. Right from the start,” he says warmly.

With years of experience in hospital critical care and ICU, Kirstin brings a depth of clinical expertise that few in community nursing can match, paired with the kind of warmth and presence that puts families at ease the moment she walks through the door.
For Kirstin, the move into community care has been a chance to bring her skills closer to the people who need them most.
“It’s an honour to make Rick and Liz feel comfortable in their own home,” she says.
“To help people feel safe, comfortable, and stay independent in their own home is something we value so incredibly highly.”
