Most Sunday mornings during winter, we sit in St Luke’s with heaters on and wrapped in blankets whilst breathing fog as we sing.
St Luke’s can be quite cold in temperature whilst warming our hearts as we share God’s message and the companionship and love of the St Luke’s family.
I do wonder however if we really are as cold as we seem to be.
I am sure there are many people in our neighbourhood who really do feel the cold, and probably hunger as they struggle to put warm clothes on their backs, blankets on their beds and food in their mouths. Our complaints about the cold are nothing compared with many other people.
I do hope we can all share some ways of helping everyone to feel safe, warm and wanted.
St Luke’s does have a small quantity of pantry foods if anyone is in need.
If anyone in the community would like to donate to our small pantry, please feel free to drop goodies onto the shelves in the pavilion beside the church. They would be very gratefully received for people in need.
I hope the school children are enjoying their holidays and taking time to ride their bikes, spend time with family, and unwind ready for the new term.
If things have not gone well at school last term, I encourage students to start afresh and anew, next term.
We could all take this advice at times and start afresh with a clean slate.
It is with sadness we see our beloved Louise Goodman and her partner, Michael White leave Canungra as they move into their retirement phase of life, having sold their home to move to Yamba.
Louise has been an absolute stalwart in our midst. She has been our Guild Treasurer and a very generous, kind and giving friend at St Luke’s. Both Louise and Michael will be sorely missed, for their friendship and willingness to live as examples of God’s love.
We wish them every happiness and God’s richest blessings in their new adventure.
