It has been a busy month at St Luke’s as Little Lukies and SLAngers have continued for the school children who attend.
Another highlight was the High Tea held in August as a fund-raiser for the Church. Forty attendees enjoyed scrumptious food and beautiful singing by Wendy Rosenbaum during this delightful afternoon. The successful afternoon raised over $900 to help towards maintaining St Luke’s. The church sparkled in its glory. We are so proud of how this building continues to hold people in awe when they look inside.
It was wonderful to have a baptism in St Luke’s and baby Harrison, together with family and friends were welcomed into our community by Rev Helen.
The Season of Creation, which is a global movement, occurs at this time each year. Christians worldwide unite to celebrate in prayer and action to protect our common environment.
It is a special season where we celebrate God as Creator and acknowledge Creation as a divine continuing act which we all need to love and care for.
Our church will use this time to open people’s hearts and eyes to the damage we are causing to creation. Just changing the mindset takes time, but every little bit will help and be a positive step.
The Parish “Caring for Creation” team has recently established two recycling points, at St Georges and at St Lukes.
These are for smaller items such as spectacles, mobile phones, ink cartridges and plastic bottles tops. Blister packs (the foil pack that holds tablets) are the largest quantity of any item brought in. Unfortunately, at this time there is nowhere in the Scenic Rim where these are collected for recycling.
It would be a valuable step if any local pharmacy would consider being a collection point.
We should all do our best to keep our environment as safe and beautiful as we know it to be. I encourage everyone to take positive steps towards saving what God has created, so future generations can also enjoy its beauty.
