News from St Luke’s

St Luke's

I recently returned from an amazing road trip travelling from Broome to Perth in WA.

This trip included visiting many places I had only heard of, but had little idea of what they would offer. These included Tom Price, Port Headland and Karijini National Park. It is easy to think you know what to expect when going somewhere new, but often the outcome can be quite different.

I couldn’t help thinking these feelings are often the same for someone considering joining a church. Most of us would have a formed image of what to expect. We know what a church looks like both outside and inside. We may enjoy hearing music playing during a service or we may think it could be a strange place if we entered the building. However, like my eyes and ears were opened to learn more about the places I visited, I am sure joining a church such as St. Luke’s would open one’s eyes and ears to the enjoyment offered, and not just on Sundays.

Belonging to St Luke’s, or in fact any church, can be like discovering amazing new things such as fun, friendship and a sense of belonging.

Sometimes pre-conceived ideas can sadly be misunderstood. You are welcome to come and check St Luke’s out.

We are very grateful to the Scenic Rim Council for providing and installing a new tree-root barrier to protect the foundations of St. Luke’s from the roots of the large fig tree which grows beside the footpath. This was essential to save St. Luke’s ageing foundations.

The next Cuppa in the Community at Canungra will be held in DJ Smith Memorial Park and will be catered for by St. Luke’s Guild. We do enjoy meeting people and offering our hospitality, so come along and say hello.

Little Lukies and SLAngers will both be in full swing for the final school term.

All are welcome.

Blessings.
