November has been a month for celebrating birthdays at St Luke’s.

We all enjoy receiving special recognition when it is our own birthday and one particular lady has been thrilled to hear from so many well-wishers.

Our dear Irene Sim turned 90 and she celebrated this special milestone with much gratitude and thankfulness.

A gathering of friends at the Bowls Club made sure Irene was recognised for the vibrant, enthusiastic lady she is.

Later this month we will be celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Christmas Day is seen as the most important birthday on our Christian calendar.

For many it is a special time to gather with those they love, to share food, gifts and to reflect on how important they are to each other.

The Christmas Day service at St Lukes will be at 8am. You are most welcome to come along and enjoy our celebration of the birth of Jesus.

Perhaps you will be away, or unable to attend on the 25th. However, our annual Christmas Carols will be held in the Church grounds on Wednesday December 18 commencing at 6.30pm. Bring a chair or rug to sit on.

There will be great entertainment led by our regular tenor Stewart Morris, whose beautiful voice will inspire you to join in the singing.

There will be treats for the children who attend and Little Lukies will also provide entertaining items.

As this is the last publication of the Canungra Times for 2024, I would sincerely like to thank Keer Moriarity and her dedicated team for including St Luke’s article each month. We are very grateful to have such a wonderful newspaper for our community.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a peaceful Happy New Year.
