LOCAL shooter Georgia Rogers excelled at the Beaudesert Sporting Clays’ annual two-day shoot held earlier this month as she came home on the podium for the Lady’s title.
Rogers competed against a strong field of more than 100 shooters who had travelled from as far afield as Coffs Harbour and Childers.
Her strong performance of 52/75 on the qualifier shoot brought her to first place, with her club shoot performance of 61/75 placing second against Brisbane Shooter Shannon Palfreeman.
Rogers has been shooting for over three years after starting at 13 years old.
Her passion for the sport is growing as fast as she is.
“I got into shooting mainly because of my dad. I didn’t even think of shooting and Dad goes, ‘There’s a come-and-try day at Beaudesert Sporting Clays; we should go and try it,” Rogers said.
“From there, we just kept going back and having another go and it just progressed.”
“Shooting is the love of my life, and I’d love to pursue and continue with it,” she added.
The annual event involves two separate competitions with the first day a club shoot and second a State qualifier competition for the Queensland team.
