Senior Men fight for first win of the season

Tamborine Mountain Eagles Metro Men 4-1 Win vs Coomera

TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN EAGLES SENIOR MEN FIGHT BACK FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON, AND THEY’RE JUST GETTING STARTED

Tamborine Mountain Eagles Senior Men marked their competitive return to Long Road Sports Centre with their first win of the season!

Facing the Coomera Colts after a winless opening two fixtures, the boys found themselves trailing at half-time for the third time this season. But a defiant second half in front of the home crowd put all doubt to bed, and our Eagles Men fought back to secure a confident 4-1 victory.

Wyatt Menicanin found the equaliser quickly after the restart, before Tommy Pardoe-Matthews buried a penalty to make it 2-1 minutes later.

A great piece of interplay down the left channel opened space for Corie Hassell to score our third, placing a neat shot across the keeper and into the bottom right corner. Matthew Pattinson scored our fourth goal to seal the result, and we climbed to fourth in the ladder after an encouraging start.

The result sees the Senior Men’s team start the season with one win, one draw, and one defeat as they return to senior competition for the first time since 2021.

An opening day draw against the Nerang Eagles was their first taste of the competition, and despite losing 4-3 in the next game against Mudgeeraba, they showed character and spirit to fight from three goals down to draw level, before ultimately conceding in the final minute.

In contrast to the 2021 season, where they started with three senior teams and ended the year with a dozen half-injured men playing three games per week, there’s plenty of promise.

The last appearance in the senior competitions saw our Metro Men finish second-last with two wins in 22 games.

The Coastal League Men also finished second-last with two wins in 20 games, and the Coastal League Reserves finished eighth with five wins in 20 games.

They conceded over 300 goals across the three teams, and have failed to put a team together since.

Until now.

It’s taken a long time to get a Senior Men’s team again on Tamborine Mountain, and they are not just here to participate.

The first win since 2021 is a statement of intent as they look to challenge for both the South Coast Community Seniors Premiership and Championship titles.

The Senior Men’s team play on Wednesday nights, so get down to Long Road Sports Centre and support the boys as they fight to bring glory to Tamborine Mountain!
