Moriarty Parks is proud to recognise Sonny Garrett, 12, as November’s Sportsperson of the Month, following an exceptional year across multiple sporting fields.
A respected student leader, Sonny has been named School Captain for 2025 at Canungra State School. He was recently accepted into the Keebra Park Rugby League Academy, earning his place on his very first trial, and was also selected for the school’s Academic Program.
Sonny has excelled across swimming, athletics and cross country in 2025, securing Senior Age Champion titles in both swimming and athletics. His swimming results include first place in Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke and Butterfly. In athletics, he claimed first place in the 200m, 800m, Discus, Long Jump and High Jump, along with second place in the 100m and third in Shot Put. He also took first place in the 3km Cross Country and was awarded the Bradfield Trophy for highest overall points in athletics.Beyond school sport, Sonny received his Five Years of Service Medal with the Mudgeeraba Redbacks JRLFC, highlighting his long-term dedication to rugby league.
With a remarkable list of achievements and a strong community presence, Sonny Garrett is a deserving recipient of Moriarty’s Sportsperson of the Month for November.
