THE U13 Canungra Owls Boys team faced off against the U13 Nerang team in a highly anticipated match.

Despite the wet field and recent bouts of sickness affecting many players, the Owls were determined to secure the win against Nerang, who currently sit third on the ladder.

The game got off to a great start for the Owls.

Striker Sonny Finch scored the first goal of the match within minutes, thanks to an excellent setup by Blake Scott. Crowd goes wild, the Canungra cheer squad has proven to be very passionate throughout our games.

Throughout the first half, the Owls maintained strong control, with midfielders Noah Scott and Brooklyn Kahika tirelessly working to advance the ball down the field.

The attacking efforts were well-supported by Caeden Walker, Blake Scott, and Noah Smith, who consistently created opportunities to extend their lead. Clancy Peterson and Daniel provided their team with solid midfield assistance in both attack and defence.

The ever-increasing skills in our defence is so good to watch, with Josiah Dantaz, Joshua Boulton and Nick Dougherty booting and headbutting the ball away from Nerang’s goals at any chance they could.

Goalie Will Teudtt’s keeping skills were at the forefront with him stopping over eight goals from entering the net throughout the game.

The win went to Nerang in a close game with Canungra one goal, Nerang two.

Although they didn’t come away with the win, with the continued dedication and support from coach Rob Scott and assistant coach Michael Smith, the boys are set to achieve great things in the season ahead.
