TAMBORINE Mountain bachelor Terry Pointing has been looking for a partner to share companionship and some of life’s adventures.

He hopes to attract the attention of a homely, happy lass in her 70s who enjoys friendship and mutual support.

“I’m just a good, average Australian bloke out to enjoy life,” Terry said.

“The emphasis is on enjoying life, as in doing things that I like to do, or your partner likes to do.”

At 82 years young, this youthful gentleman doesn’t feel his age in the slightest.

With a love for travelling and hitting the dance floor, Terry’s adventures are endless, and he would love to have someone to share them with.

“Because I’ve been just about everywhere, you can talk about it,” he said.

“When you’ve got all life’s experiences behind you, you should go out and at least enjoy and share it.”

To put himself out there, Terry has been posting ads in the Tamborine Mountain News for the past year as a way to interact with potential suitors.

His efforts haven’t been ignored as he has received various responses to the ads.

“The number of women that say to me, ‘Oh, gee, you’re brave for putting an ad in,’” Terry said.

“As single, mature people, you don’t have a lot of options. Apart from an ad in the paper, what other way is there?”

“If you don’t give it a shot, you’ll never know,” he added.

Although Terry is seeking companionship, he doesn’t feel the need to rush into a permanent relationship.

“It doesn’t have to be permanent, but it’s got to be mutual. It doesn’t have to be a ‘seven days a week, 365 days a year’ relationship,” he said.

“A lot of people like their own space; you’ve just got to be adaptable.”

Terry is pleased with the responses to his ads and hopes others can feel comfortable posting their own ads.

“The hardest part is to end the last years of your life by yourself. I couldn’t imagine doing that,” he said.

“You’ve just got to be confident in yourself, then you’ll do it. You can sit there, or you can do something about it.”
