POWER has been affected ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred with homes in Beechmont, Lower Beechmont, Tamborine Mountain and areas surrounding Canungra already affected.
There are 1,000 homes on Beechmont without power and 1,000 homes on Tamborine Mountain due to high winds overnight.
It is set to be a busy time for Energex crews once TC Alfred passes, with over 25,000 homes on the Gold Coast also without power and more outages expected.
Authorities have said it is too dangerous to send crews to restore power at this stage and they will wait until the cyclone passes.
Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to cross the coast tomorrow morning with destructive wind gusts, widespread rain and flooding are expected.
