The Canungra Times was established in 2005 by Stu Comley and bought in 2011 by Keer Moriarty.  It remains an independently owned and run newspaper with contributions by many of the town’s colourful characters and community leaders.

We print 2,500 copies per month which are distributed on the first Friday of each month to Canungra, Beechmont, Tamborine Village, Tamborine Mountain and Beaudesert.  We also produce the popular Visit Canungra tourist map.

Our aim is to share the news of our district with residents and visitors and to promote local businesses and community groups – primarily the towns of Canungra, Beechmont and Tamborine Village.

In 2020, Keer also started the Beaudesert Bulletin, using the same principles as the Canungra Times – local, community news.

The paper was embraced by Beaudesert and surrounding areas and is now known as ‘Beaudesert’s local paper’.

At this time Scenic Rim Media Pty Ltd was formed, establishing a parent company for both papers and the printing arm of the business, SRM Print.

After working with Journalist Susie Cunningham and Graphic Designer Kate Cahill on both papers, Keer invited Susie and Kate to join Scenic Rim Media Pty Ltd as business partners.

On April 1, the Tamborine Mountain News was added to the stable of Scenic Rim Media. This is a newspaper which has a proud history, being established in 1958 and one which we are grateful to have been trusted with.
