Bring on 2020

As 2019 comes to an end, all I can say is 'thank goodness'.

As 2019 comes to an end, all I can say is thank goodness.

It has been a hard year for Australia, for people in the Scenic Rim, for Canungra and Beechmont, and for me personally.

I want to think the people who have helped and supported me professionally and personally through this year – there are so many and I can’t name everyone, but I’m going to name a few:

  • Ray White Canungra
  • Cafe Metz

Jenny Pack, who manages every month to get artwork done for the paper and dig me out of the poo even when I send stuff to her late and she is so busy running Mountview Alpaca Farm.

Lee McKenzie McKinnon who declines my offer to buy the paper for $10 every month when I’m on deadline and over it.

My kids, who seem to keep going no matter how busy and scatter brained their mother is. Thanks for being so resilient and self-sufficient and for helping out. Love you both very much.

Monique Morcus and Karen McAndrew and the team at Aussie Lifestyle Properties who put up with me coming in the back door for a chat! Monique particularly has supported me through the time I’ve owned the business and I really appreciate her friendship and advice. That little corner of Canungra is a great place to work – with Donna and Alex at OWL Wholefoods and Little Bee, Mark at Canungra Mowers, Jan at Canungra Books and Art, and Canungra Op Shop – its a little micro community that support each other.

Canungra Op Shop and particularly Caroline Andrew, wow, where would Canungra be without you? Caroline, for her unending support through the bushfires and staying back for a chat when it was needed.

Sonia from Beautiful Batches who has ‘paid it forward’ at OWL Wholefoods for coffee for me many times – you have no idea how the gesture and the coffee kept me going!

My great friends – Jodie, Jean, Ingrid, Tracey, Tracee and Julie – who put up with the inconsistency, craziness and all the rest. Thank you all so much for being there.

The Beechmont crew – Lisa, Sophie, Matt, Leonie, Caz, Lou, Sally, Jess and all the wonderful people I have met through some truly awful circumstances. You are beautiful souls.

Ben – who still listens and is there for me. Thank you for your friendship, support and advice – I know you always have my back. It means a lot.

Everyone from Canungra Show Society – we have a great team there and some great friendships have been formed in the time I’ve been involved.

The advertisers, readers and people following this page who have sent messages of support, encouragement and offers of help over the past year. I am so grateful to every one of your.

I believe independent media is so important to the future of this country and I am at the same time proud and humbled to be part of it.

Bring on 2020. Best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy new year.
