Shaping SEQ Submission

Council has approved a submission to the Draft Shaping SEQ and the Draft SEQ Infrastructure Supplement identifying, among other matters,  the urgent need for road and transport upgrades in areas including the Canungra traffic corridor. The submission can be found on Council’s website.  As Councillors, we have also submitted a firmly worded letter with an emphasis on community feedback, which can be read at  scenicrim.qld.gov.au/news/article/938/council-raises-concerns-over-draft-seq-regional-plan  I also took time to speak with two Queensland Government planning officers during their recent visit to Beaudesert and Boonah.

Canungra Show

Congratulations to the Canungra Show Society members and all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the show was such a success. The show had such a wonderful country feel about it and was enjoyed by all. Thank you all again for celebrating our community.

Water Update

This is a topic close to all our hearts as we enter another dry spring and summer. I appreciate the ongoing concern of the community and those who live in the more rural areas outside town and who rely on tank water and irrigation for their businesses.

I can assure residents that I am in weekly contact with the Urban Utilities Customer Relations Officer regarding this issue.

Residents can also log on to the urbanutilities.com.au/ website to register for regular water updates and share their views on how South East Queensland can secure water supplies into the future.

A useful reference is the chart from the Canungra Drought Response section of the Water Security Performance Plan from Urban Utilities and Seqwater. At the  time of writing this column, the town was at Trigger 1 and had been for a few weeks, with slight fluctuations in Canungra Creek following small amounts of rain.

I am always happy to speak further with residents if they wish.
