Local dentist, Dr Bernie Tsang from Canungra Dental, is riding for a cause as he sets out on the Pedals and Medals bike ride.

Part of the 4 Aussie Heroes Foundation, the two day Fundraising Bike Ride is held on Thursday 12 and Saturday 14 October 2023.  The gruelling 270 kilometre ride travels through the Somerset and Lockyer Valley Regions with Esk as the base.

Established in 2016, the 4 Aussie Heroes Foundation exists to aid and support those military and first responder personnel, past and present, who are struggling and suffering with PTSD and related mental health issues as a result of their service to our nation and communities.

This is being achieved primarily by through best practise rehabilitation programs of varying lengths, being delivered in a rural environment which is relaxed and calming, and where rehabilitation and guidance will have maximum long-term benefits.

Dr Bernie said he is doing this fundraiser because he is passionate about cycling and has friends who are and were in Defence.

“Mental health and PTSD is a huge issue in our community, as we see many patients in our clinic who have served or currently serve in the Defence force,” he said.

“I had a friend who reached out and introduced me to the organiser and I have sponsored a team under the Canungra Dental banner.”

Bernie has set a fundraising goal of $1,250.
