Who will be the IGA Sportsperson of the Year?

CANUNGRA’S sportsperson of the year will be announced at the IGA Sportsperson of the Year Awards at Moriarty Park on Sunday February 4 from 3pm.

The winner will be selected from monthly nominees from a range of sports including soccer, cheerleading and rugby union.

Canungra IGA supermarket have taken on the sponsorship of the prestigious awards this year, with monthly winners receiving a medallion, $50 IGA voucher and $50 Scenic Rim Sports store voucher and the Sportsperson of the Year also receiving a trophy and their name on the honour board in the Moriarty Park Hall.

Previous yearly winners include Hanggliding champion Jonny Durand Jnr, world championship sailor Jonah Parry and frame runner Kai Crothers.

The 2023 monthly winners are: Daniel Walters (Golf), Asiya Hickey (Muay Thai), Holly Geiger (Rugby League), Julie Ulbrich (Sport Dogs), Oscar Lane (Rugby Union), Trent Siegertsz (Judo), Evie Anderson (Dance), Canungra Owls Under 14 Team (Soccer), Masyn Prosser (Athletics/Football/Futsal), Bella Gordon (Cheerleading/Football/Futsal).
