CURRENT WATER SITUATION IN CANUNGRA

I can assure residents that Urban Utilities is in regular contact with Council and myself regarding the ongoing lack of rain and Canungra Creek’s declining flow rates. At the time of writing this column, the situation remains at Trigger 1 as per the Drought Management Plan but could quickly fall to Trigger 2. Residents on tank water are advised to check their water levels and ensure they have top ups and extra water ordered early as there are waiting times.

Urban Utilities has a very useful website updating the current situation, which I recommend residents connect to at  urban.com.au/canungra

RECENT LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION of QUEENSLAND CONFERENCE

My councillor colleagues and I attended the conference late last month. This was an important opportunity to share ideas and experiences with other councillors throughout Queensland and also to receive learnings and updates on topics such as cost shifting of services, new dangerous dog legislation, cyber security and, of course, roads and increased funding from other levels of government.

I made brief contact with Minister for Water Glenn Butcher and we have arranged a meeting regarding the ongoing water situation in Canungra.

TURNING CANUNGRA PINK

Thank you to this year’s committee for organising such an extensive month of fundraising events and to all who supported them. Our town is proud of this ongoing legacy of generosity.

Snake sighting signs have also been temporarily installed in public areas where snakes have been spotted – D J Smith Park and Lions Park gardens by Canungra Bridge.
