Headmaster’s Cafe at the old school on top of Beechmont has had the necessary renovations for its new life as the Sunflower Cafe.

Georgia Maragoulias and her daughter Jasmin are looking forward to opening on Friday evenings for dinner now that the long awaited liquor licence has the go ahead from Council.

For now, it’s open and busy, Tuesday to Friday from 7am til 2pm with Georgia’s signature specialty coffee served with breakfast, brunch, snacks and cakes.

Georgia and Jasmin had been attending Beechmont’s monthly markets with their mobile coffee van since December 2021 and jumped at the chance to reopen the much loved cafe.

“We love Beechmont!” said Georgia.

“The markets are full of the most amazing and talented people with actual handmade crafts and homemade goodies and the atmosphere is just delightful.”

“The area itself is obviously stunning too but the main reason we wanted to open the cafe there is to give the beautiful community of Beechmont a hub to gather and a place to connect with others.”

“Providing coffee and food is how we get them there but once here we want everyone to feel at home.”

Georgia has worked in hospitality since her teens and is very much a people person.  She says making people happy is the key to a successful cafe.

Daughter Jasmin, who is only 16 years of age, runs the kitchen and the two women are looking forward to continuing to work together.

“We’ve been working at another venue and in the coffee van for over three years and Jasmin has discovered a love for food, cooking simple yet delicious meals, and while I run front of house, Jas runs the kitchen.”

Georgia and Jasmin are looking forward to becoming more involved with the Beechmont community and hope the cafe will have a number of positive effects for the area.

“We hope the cafe will make people happy, including myself and Jas, and we are looking forward to bringing the community together over good food, great coffee and fun times.”
