Canungra Show Society is looking for young people with a passion for country life to represent Canungra in the Rural Ambassador competition. this year to showcase.
Canungra Show Ambassador Coordinator, Julia Schafer said this represents a new age in show competitions after a long hiatus from participating in the Showgirl Awards and is a chance to develop the young leaders in the region.
“It is of significant importance to encourage and support young leaders in our rural community as they follow in the footsteps of our great agricultural families and carry on time honoured traditions as well as blaze their own way to further enhance our community,” she said.
The Show Society are looking for:
- Junior Show Ambassador from primary school aged students,
- Senior Show Ambassador aimed at recognising youth leaders from 12-19 years of age and
- Canungra Rural Ambassador (20-30 years of age).
All entrants will receive recognition for their participation and will be involved in roles at the Canungra Rodeo and Canungra Show as well as being offered other opportunities throughout the year.
The winners of the Junior and Senior Show Ambassador will attend the Rodeo and be present at the opening of the Canungra Show as well as supporting the Rural Ambassador in various events throughout the district.
The winner of the Rural Ambassador will be the face of the Canungra Show held on August 24, 2024. They will also be invited to attend the South East Queensland sub-chamber finals in April 2025.
From this they have the opportunity to represent the region at the State Finals held at the 2025 EKKA.
Being involved in competitions such as these will help entrants develop their leadership skills, build their self confidence and hone their public speaking skills, engage with local businesses and form community focused friendships.
“Many Rural Ambassadors who have participated previously have formed life long friendships through associating with like minded young people and developed a network of contacts that have supported their future endeavours.”
