THE countdown is on for the 2024 Scenic Rim Council elections with nominations closing for candidates on February 13.
In an effort to help both candidates and voters the Canungra Chamber of Commerce will hold a Meet the Candidates Night at the School of Arts Hall on February 29 at 6pm, with Canungra Times journalist, Peter Chapman, hosting the evening’s discussion.
Each candidate for the position of mayor, division two and division three will have three minutes to say why they deserve your vote.
They will then be asked a series of questions that have been provided by ratepayers.
The questions will be randomly selected from pre-submitted questions.
The candidates who have confirmed their attendance are:
Tom Sharp, Jeff McConnell and Greg Christensen (for mayor), Kerri Cryer (division 2) and Virginia West and Steve Moriarty (division 3).
If you’d like to submit a question send it to admin@canungrachamberofcommerce.com.au before Monday February 26. Questions will not be taken from the floor.
