During this 25th anniversary year of Tamborine Mountain State High School (TMSHS), eighty students across twenty teams will take part in one of Australia’s most challenging endurance events, the Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge.
On July 13 and 14 they will trek non-stop for 30, 48 or 96 kilometres, through the rugged, mountainous, and beautiful terrain of south-east Queensland.
The focus during the Challenge is on the Kokoda values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice, as displayed by the Australian World War II soldiers of the 39th Militia, who trekked the 96km length of the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea in 39 hours.
During the months of training leading up to the Challenge, teams will be fundraising to support the Kokoda Foundation Youth Programs.
