Smoke from multiple reduction burns at Wongawallan Road Reserve and Timberview Reserve are affecting Wongawallan, Upper Coomera, Kingsholme, Willow Vale and surrounding areas as of 11.41am today.
The fires are now under control, however, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) have released a bushfire warning for residents to avoid the smoke.
As reccomended by the QFES, residents should:
- stay inside and close windows and doors.
- keep respiratory medication close by.
- avoid driving through the smoke if you can.
- watch out for firefighters working in the area.
- not fly drones around the fire (drones affect air operations).
These precautions are to protect residents as smoke can make it hard for some people to breathe and/or smoke can make it hard to see when driving.
No properties are at risk.
