Wonglepong Branch Country Women’s Association (CWA) hosted their 99th Annual General Meeting on July 20 with the local CWA sisterhood enjoying a special morning tea to welcome their incoming committee.
The old hall was filled with chatter as CWA members from Coomera, Beenleigh and Beaudesert branches enjoyed the special day with Division Three Councillor, Stephen Moriarty also in attendance.
The morning consisted of a table full of delicious homemade foods and desserts, including tea, coffee and warm pumpkin soup, alongside raffles for two lucky winners.
“It’s quite an occasion. There are some lovely people here in the CWA,” Wonglepong CWA member Helen McPhie said.
Guest Chairman Southeastern Division President Jo Hubner was excited to announce the incoming committee would remain the same with Louise Goodman as President, Marea Little as Vice-President, Heather Kenrick as Secretary and Diane Ayscough as International Officer.
Heather had the pleasure of introducing their two newest members, Robyn Day and Robyn Mahony.
In the absence of Louise, Diane shared the President’s report which included the wonderful things the branch has done for the community over the past year.
Diane also shared her experiences representing the branch at the 2024 International Conference at Dalby.
“This was my first ever International Conference and I felt privileged to be one of approximately 180 delegates from all over Queensland,” she said.
“With a theme for the conference of Sit Less, Move More … we were all encouraged to get up and learn some belly-dancing moves.”
“I thought to remind us about Morocco, we could all do some belly-dancing today,” Diane added.
The day ended with awarding badges to the new committee, handing out gifts to special visitors and a communal lunch for everyone to enjoy.
Wonglepong CWA continues to bring something new to the table and helps support the local community whilst doing so.
