A big thank you to QCWA Beechmountain President Leanne King for pulling together the catering on Anzac Day, the organisation was superb.

Catering for over 200 people takes a special kind of commitment and dedication, especially when the people doing the catering are all volunteers.

Special thanks to Judy Warner who, with Leanne, shopped till they dropped getting in all the supplies they needed for the day.

The set up and prep for the day started early in the morning, Julie Newman packed, priced and labeled everyone’s Anzac biscuits. Bard made the beautiful assorted sandwiches, while Leonie set about blanching 40 kilograms of chips.

Tanya sliced lamb, Judy and Leanne pre sliced the buns for service and attended the kitchen set up, Carol Bowhay whipped the cream and pre filled the jam and cream cups.

When lunch service was ready to roll it was all hands on deck with Leonie Smith, Jo Doumany, Carol Bowhay, Julie Hill, Leanne King, Bronwym Lind, Lou Rankin, Wendy Davies, Bard Greer, Judy Warner and Alison Johnson as well as the barbecue boys Geoff Warner and Barry Davies.

Special mention to Julie Hill who every year when service is complete and everyone just wants to have a glass of bubbles and chill out, immediately fills the sink with hot soapy water and leads the washing up brigade.

Thank you also to Ron and Ou at the Flying Bean who supplied the chips from their own stock, when there was a hiccup with delivery.

The moral of this story is without all these wonderful women and supporters of our branch, this would not be possible.
