THE Canungra branch of Shim Jang Taekwondo continues to guide students to the highest honours with two new junior black belts now in their membership ranks.
Brother and sister Hunter and Lilly Staats earned their honours after coming through a gruelling grading session earlier this month.
To earn their grading they had to spar with multiple local opponents as well as others from the Gold Coast and South Brisbane.
More than 100 spectators watched on as they demonstrated their black belt pattern, performed flying side kicks and revealed self defence moves.
Hunter and Lilly have been training hard at Canungra for the last three years under Instructor Sarah Hall who is a 3rd Dan Black Belt.
Hunter was just 11 and Lilly only 8 when they first enrolled at the Canungra branch and trained diligently twice a week to progress through the ranks.
Sarah said it was great to see them both rewarded for their hard work and dedication.
“We hold training sessions on Monday and Thursday nights at Moriarty Park Hall between 5.30pm and 6.30pm and it is rare not to see them both at the every training night,” she said.
