The bushfire in Sarabah valley continued to smoulder late this afternoon, with fire crews on site overnight and throughout the day.

The hazard reduction burn undertaken last night near Rymera Road looked to be successful, with the fire at a stop to the north.

Aerial crews spent the afternoon spreading fire retardant around the top of the valley, near Table Top Road, in an effort to prevent the fire from spreading over the top of the hill and into the neighbouring Illinbah Valley.

A number of fire breaks have also be put in with heavy earthmoving equipment.

Emergency services personnel, including the volunteers of the Rural Fire Service worked tirelessly overnight to stop this fire from spreading further.

The fire is still active and residents are advised to stay informed. For updates and incidents visit https://www.qfes.qld.gov.au/Current-Incidents .
