Long term Club volunteer, Chez Tomlinson, received the Club Person of the Year Award from the Canungra Owls Soccer Club at their annual Presentation Day.

Chez has been involved with the Club since 2005 when her son Mitch started playing soccer.

All three Tomlinson boys and daughter Charlotte have played on and off over the years.

Mitch has been coaching the same girls team for the past four seasons, since they were Under 12s.

Club President Cameron Mansfield said the Award was well-deserved recognition of Chez’s unwavering commitment to the club over many years.

“Chez is a dedicated member who wears many hats within the Club,” said Cameron.

“She’s not just a great Treasurer; she also manages the Club’s finances with precision and transparency. Her commitment ensures that the club stays financially sound.”

In addition to her role as Treasurer, Chez takes on various responsibilities within the Club, including being the referee and uniform coordinator, assistant registrar, and often assisting the Club Secretary with organising committee meetings and the Club’s social media presence.

Chez’s commitment doesn’t stop at administrative duties, she seeks and secures grants that benefit the Club.

“A prime example of her success is the renovation of the main field, which was made possible through a grant she applied for and secured,” said Cameron.

“Thanks to Chez’s hard work, Moriarty Park will soon have a top-notch playing surface.”

“For those enjoying match days and Canungra State School sport days at Moriarty Park, Chez is the friendly face behind the canteen, ensuring supporters have a great match-day experience while contributing to the club’s finances.”

“Her dedication to this essential part of the Club is crucial.”
