THE 2024 was another successful season at the Canungra Owls Soccer Club.
We welcomed five new sponsors to the Club which not only allowed us to get all our members fitted out in flashy new kits, but also enabled us to continuing offering affordable fees to our local families.
The Club has certainly grown from its humble beginnings; this year nominating a record number of 13 teams in the Miniroo and Junior competitions.
Saturday home games saw Moriarty Park bustling from 7.30am right through to 1.00pm. It would be fair to say that our wonderful volunteers worked endlessly throughout the season to keep all the balls rolling. Their biggest reward was seeing the never-ending smiles and laughter on those busy Saturday mornings.
It was a season filled with fun and excitement as we watched all our players doing what they love most. From the weekly training to the Saturday games, for some teams it just wasn’t enough, and we were delighted to see them signing up for Sunday carnivals.
Our two U13 teams entered their first year of officially ‘keeping score’; both competing well with our U13s boys making it to the finals, HOOT HOOT!!
For the fourth year running, our Senior Men’s team secured a spot in the Semi’s but sadly, 2024 was not the year they would finally bring home the trophy. Always the groomsmen, never the grooms, but there’s always 2025. No pressure guys!
The Club Player of the Year trophy was awarded to U13s player Nicholas Dougherty. Coach Mick praised Nick for his passion, consistency, leadership and all-round good sportsmanship and commitment. Well done on a great season Nick!
Jodie Clifford was our well deserving recipient for the Club Person of the Year. The Owls have benefited for many years from Jodie’s dedication and tireless commitment in securing grants for the Club; the most impressive of all being the new Change Rooms we were thrilled to open at the start of the season.
With this year’s season now wrapped up, we will be welcoming new and returning members from January 2025. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for important dates and information.
We invite all members, and new volunteers, to attend our AGM being held Thursday 14th November 4.30pm at Moriarty Park.
