The Tamborine Mountain Basketball Under 18 Boys Division 2 team has achieved a significant victory, clinching a win in the North Gold Coast Seahawks Grand Final against the Pimpama Pelicans U18B2 team.
This win, celebrated at Coomera Indoor Sports Centre, highlights not only the team’s skills on court, but the well supported journey it took to get there.
Interim President of Tamborine Mountain Basketball, Jessica Fern, shared insights into the team’s remarkable journey.
“This team has been playing together for about six seasons and has really hit their stride,” she said.
“Their success is a testament to our player-centric club culture. We focus on providing a consistent style of play that we strive to teach across all age groups as well as invest in coaching development and life skills, not just basketball skills.”
Brayden Hayes, a key player on the U18B2 team, who also coaches the U16B2 team, reflects on his experience.
“Starting with the Wolves in Under 15s, I’ve witnessed firsthand how our community fosters not only basketball skills but also valuable life lessons,” he said.
“The engagement in community events and youth coaching has been a rewarding aspect of our journey, making our growth on the court even more meaningful.”
William de Ambrosis, another stand-out talent, highlighted the club’s personal touch.
“I started playing for the Wolves in U15s after moving from another club,” he said.
“The Wolves made me feel truly part of something. All the coaches interact with you, not just the one assigned to you, which makes a huge difference. That’s my favourite part about the Wolves—they make you feel valued and individual.”
Fern expressed pride in the team’s achievements and their dedication throughout the season.
She said the Wolves Basketball Club looks forward to celebrating more milestones and continuing to build on their strong community and player development programs.
“Winning a grand final is a dream for any team,” Fern said.
“We are thrilled that they got to experience that. Their hard work, commitment to training, and teamwork have all contributed to their success. We are excited to watch them defend their title in Season 2, 2024.”
