Traffic
Thanks to everyone who contributed to Council’s recent community consultation on the Integrated Transport Plan.
This was the Scenic Rim’s first major study of transport issues and will help Council to develop a plan that will meet the region’s estimated growth and the unique needs of our community in coming decades.
Hundreds of members of the community across the Scenic Rim shared their views on the local road network and the region’s transport connections as well as their experiences of walking and cycling.
There will be an opportunity to provide further feedback once the Draft Integrated Transport Plan has been finalised and released for community consultation through the Let’s Talk Scenic Rim online platform, so stay tuned for further details.
I know that local roads and increasing volumes of traffic and congestion in Canungra are particular concerns for many residents. This is not just an issue for locals, but for all those who are simply trying to pass through the town on their way to another destination. My unwavering commitment is to find meaningful solutions to this issue.
In the lead up to the state election, Council has produced an advocacy document detailing key priorities for our region requiring financial support from other levels of government.
Canungra is an advocacy priority, due to the traffic and amenity issues for residents and business operators.
Although the Scenic Rim Planning Scheme includes an indicative corridor for a bypass, the planning, design or construction of this state-controlled road is outside Council’s responsibilities and it is hoped this is prioritised by the Queensland Government after the state election in October.
AGMs
I have recently attended AGMs of the Beechmont Rural Fire Brigade and the Canungra Bowls Club. While these two organisations serve different purposes, they are both run by a dedicated band of volunteers who give tirelessly of themselves to make our communities better places for our residents.
Thank you to all involved! As your local councillor, I look forward to supporting you in your future endeavours.
