ALISON Johnson epitomises everything the QCWA stands for.

Her dedication to the community was recently recognised with a QCWA Quiet Achiever Award.

Alison has been very actively involved in the Beechmountain Branch of the QCWA since its inception.

Announcing the award, Bronwyn Lind said Alison’s involvement in every QCWA meeting or community event organised by the Branch is without equal.

“Her involvement in visiting sick or elderly within our community is a truly beautiful demonstration of her quiet kindness to all,” she said.

“But perhaps where we believe Alison’s greatest strength lies – what really sets her apart as a worth ‘Quiet Achiever’ is as a ‘finger on the pulse’ of our community.”

“Alison’s involvement in a myriad of other community organisations in addition to the QCWA, enable her to keep her ear to the ground and identify the needs of others, quietly and respectfully – which is absolutely vital for us to effectively serve our community.”

Alison has represented the Beechmountian QCWA Branch at the thank you morning tea with the Queensland Governor and was a key driver in the partnership between the QCWA and the Scenic Rim Regional Council’s Cuppa in the Communi-Tea initiative.

During the 2019 Fires and the recent Christmas and January storms when mountain residents lost power for ten days, Alison volunteered with kind words and a listening ear at the Rural Fire Sheds and kept the lines of communication open when the community was at its most vulnerable.

She has provided handmade rugs for raffles and flood victims, plates of food and meals for the sick and is happy to provide transport when needed.

“Alison can be trusted absolutely, her kindness for others is pure and selfless, she is strong in advocating for those who may not feel they have a voice, bravely raising issues on others’ behalf.”

She is truly a friend to all – the foe and the friendless, giving beyond measure.

“Alison holds a very cherished position in the hearts of all the members of QCWA Beechmountain, and we cannot think of a better person to receive the coveted Quiet Achiever Award.”
